Wow. Unbelievable. I think that if we were still a nation of rifleman that we would see a lot more competency in the handling and marksmanship of our soldiers. It helps a great deal when they come in already with some knowledge, don't you think?
This photo was likely taken during the 2012 EFMB at Ft. Lewis. As such, it represents the M9 pistol assembly and function check training or testing. The lieutenant on the right is wearing a MEDCOM unit patch and is likely a nurse. As such, she would have zero interaction with firearms during her daily non-deployed CONUS MOS duties. To suggest that the photo reflects poorly on the competency or marksmanship of American soldiers is ignorant.
