and it's gun free zone friendly! SME Chuck Haggard at PF pointed out in this fascinating thread that one of the most important thing you can have to thwart an active shooter is......a doorstop (the one he recommends is linked). This nugget of wisdom REEKS of common sense and is one of the reasons I love that forum.
Other forums have Walter Mitty-esque moments of fantasizing of say someone running and out grabbing his "terrorist interdiction bag" but this, this is a bit more realistic. Of course, good on ya if you are ready to take on an active shooter. Preparation never hurts.
I have a few in my AS bag at work. Mostly the small rubber type that you can use as door stops as well as wedges.
ReplyDeleteAlso some nylon straps with a plastic buckle work well too for doors that have exposed metal actuators (like most schools) you can tie them together (or open).
You busted on the idea of putting stuff in a bag, while talking about something you can put in a bag. I guess PF is so much better than WT now. Who knew?
ReplyDeleteOr your "pocket or laptop bag" as stated in the title. What's your affiliation with WT, Dave?
DeleteI lurk the forum. The fantasy of stopping terrorists with my g34 with happy sticks is totally realistic (please don't wake me up). Fuck your doorstop.
DeleteGood for you! Nothing wrong with being Walter Mitty :)

DeleteSeriously, I'm getting bored of M4C and WT; Gabe interesting, but all the good stuff is contained in years old threads. Is PF any good? I never got "hooked" on LF even though I was let in, and ar15... just no.
DeletePF is VERY handgun focused and handgun technique focused. However, it's not an personality cult driven forum and folks are very civil. There's a long gun section there. ParagonPride is where the long, long, very long list of people who've had fallings out with Gabe go and Baconsurvival is the place where people talk about guns and make homoerotic jokes.
ReplyDeleteA Doorstop? Oh, WIZARD!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of an incident mentioned in Jeff Cooper's "To Ride, Shoot Straight, and Tell the Truth."
One group or another Cooper was affiliated with had a shoot house set up with targets set to pop out at various places and times. IIRC it was a mockup of a dark alley. One contestant stood at the start, looked at it and RAN through the course before anyone could pop up the targets.
Like Captain Kirk and the Kobiyashi Maru problem, they gave him a special award for thinking outside the box and not shooting.
